Sugar Skulls!

        I used acrylic paint to get these little guys on my nails. I'll be the first to admit that the skulls on the video tutorial don't have quite as much detail as the ones on the pictures. That is because when I record for the tutorials, my hand is pointing away from me which means I need to paint upside down. That's pretty challenging. I attempted the tutorial anyway so that you could get the idea behind the concept. 

       I start out by drawing out the basic shape of the skull and fill it in with the desired color. From there, with black paint, I draw out jaws and teeth, followed by the nostrils and the eyes. After this step, you can let your imagination go wild with so many different designs. You can even leave them blank and add some cross bones in the back for some "tough" nails.
