Mummy Nails
Learn how to do these spooky, yet super cute mummy nails for Halloween!
What's great about these is you don't need a steady hand. The more shaky your hand is, the better! That's what will give them the "wrapped" look. [This post contains a video]
My tools were a striping polish, a fan brush, and a dotting tool.
Polishes used:
Salon Perfect "Black" (Striper)
Stripe Rite "White"
Sinful Colors "Beaches and Cream"
Revlon "Casino Lights"
Sinful Colors "Tread Gingerly"
Essie "Master Plan"
Sinful Colors "Sheer Flight"
I started by using just one coat of the "Beaches and Cream" for my base. The reason I did this was to give them a more "tattered" look. You can use more than one coat if you'd like. Then, using the fan brush, I lightly brushed on hints of the yellow, followed by the brown, then the grey. I cleaned the fan brush in between coats with acetone.
When the polishes dry, use the striping polish to make the lines. I used a similar technique as when I am drawing on zebra stripes. Connect the lines randomly to make them look more like wraps. Make bolder accented lines wherever you'd like for the eyes.
To make the whites of the eyes I used a striping polish but you can also use a dotting tool and white polish. For the eyes I chose to go with an eerie looking green. I used a dotting tool to apply it within the white dots. I used about 3 coats on each eye to get the green to stand out. Watch the video below!
